After years of field experience, project design and management, and stakeholder engagement, we developed a universal methodology for sustainably strengthening health systems in the Global South.
More on our Theoretical Model here..
Based on a first pilot project in Guinea (2015-2016), we developed the full 4D CHeSS concept of a holistic, integrated and inclusive path to Universal Healthcare. Involving the communities before, during and after implementation is one way we improve results and sustainability. More here.
The four dimensions of 4D CHeSS, (i) Connectivity and Data, (ii) Community Integration, (iii) Pillar Integration, and (iv) Sector Integration, lead us to the sweet spot of Sustainable Health System Strengthening and eventually Universal Healthcare. Zoom in to the graph here.
Hypothesis-Driven Delivery: We believe that 4D CHeSS for healthcare-deprived communities will achieve PHC & basic UHC. We will know we have succeeded when communities value & trust their health system. (enough to contribute financially).
Working in short iterations, we continuously improve and fine-tune the project, working towards a pre-defined result/outcome.
Our approach is a truly inclusive one, involving all stakeholders in the conception, design, and implementation phases. From the onset, we work towards the gradual handover of the health system to our local partners, including the government, but also local communities (through Community Health Associations, a key legacy of a 4D CHeSS project)
By integrating so-called pillars (malaria, HIV/AIDS, health logistics, etc) and sectors (public, private, civil society, etc), we firmly anchor the health system in the broader social context. The result is an appropriate, efficient, cost-effective and sustainable community health system.
